Embers in Action - Join Us in Providing Disaster Relief to California Flood Victims

Embers in Action - The Embers Foundation announced today that it is partnering with GEM to provide disaster relief kits of food and supplies to California flood victims. Many areas of the state have received nearly a year’s worth of rainfall in just the last three weeks. The historic onslaught of severe storms has caused catastrophic flooding and deadly mud slides up and down the state, displacing thousands of families from their homes.

“Today, the Embers Foundation is supporting California first responders and communities by providing 1,000 families with disaster relief kits of food and supplies,” said Embers Foundation President, Beryl Jacobson.

“We invite our supporters to join us in this relief effort by making a tax deductible donation that enables our Respond Program to help more families in need.”

“As a foundation born out of California’s escalating wildfire crisis, we at the Embers Foundation are well aware of the linkages between wildfires and the devastating consequences of winter flooding,” said conservation scientist and Rewild Program Officer, Jonathan Gelbard. “Not only are lands scarred by recent fire more vulnerable to mud slides, but loss of trees results in more runoff flowing into rivers and streams.
